New Delhi: Gangster Mukhtar Ansari, who threatened Uttar Pradesh's Purvanchal region for decades with his fear and terror. Punjab has finally reached Banda's jail. This Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA used all the tricks to not get the hand of the UP Police but all his tricks in the Supreme Court were lost. Following the apex court's order, the Punjab government handed him over to the UP police.

 Ansari will now be lodged in Banda's jail.


A large number of police personnel will be deployed in and around the prison premises to protect him. The UP government had argued in the court that the list of crimes against Ansari is long which has to be disposed of. The gangster was lodged in Rupnagar Jail in Punjab since January 2019 in a ransom case. Now it will be kept in barrack number 15 of Banda Jail.

 According to the UP police, a total of 52 cases have been registered against him in the state and elsewhere. Of these, 15 cases are in the preliminary stage of their trial. It is not that the UP Police has not taken action against Ansari. Police have so far arrested 96 people linked to Ansari in criminal cases and seized and recovered assets worth Rs 192 crore belonging to the gangster and his associates. He then went to the assembly after contesting as an independent. He later joined the BSP once again. In 2009, he contested the Lok Sabha election against BJP's strongman Murli Manohar Joshi. He had to face defeat in this election.
